Marisa is a college grad student of fashion design at George Brown College in Toronto. Her love for styling and fashion came at a young age growing up watching Canada’s own and the world’s first TV program about fashion, Fashion Television. Inspired by the creative designs of legendary designers, Marisa dreamed of one day of having her own design label and in 2006, she launched her boutique label, Fashion Whore.

Marisa’s inspiration comes from several places including designers Betsy Johnson and Vivian Westwood, Japanese and Los Angeles street fashion as well as contemporary art and film.  Taking elements from each, Marisa has created her own unique vision, designing everything from clothing to accessories such as women clothing, men’s clothing and jewelry. Marisa has had the honour of styling and designing customized clothing for lead Nee Trauma of My Flea Circus as well as debuting her line at fashion shows including Toronto Alternative Fashion Week (FAT).

Never afraid of making a statement, Marisa chose her company name deliberately...she wanted a name that would cause a little bit of a stir, a reaction, one that you wouldn’t forget. Marisa designs for people who don’t want to blend in. Maybe they’re attention whores...or media whores... or Fashion Whores.     It’s a little loud and definitely more than just a little bit rock n’ roll.     Go ahead. Embrace your inner....Fashion Whore.
